DC++

In the world of file sharing, there are some key programs that are used by almost any computer user. A good example in this case is the DC++ application. This software has a great tradition in the world of file sharing programs, as it offers anyone the possibility to easily share and download files from a very large P2P network, no matter if we are talking about a network or the Internet. The principle behind DC++ is to work with hubs. Each hub contains a number of connected users, from where you can download almost any file.

The installation process of DC++ can be completed in the shortest time possible. The application can work on Windows without problems and it's compatible with almost any version of this operating system. After installing and running the program, the user first needs to enter some personal details, like the nickname, email address and so on. He should also select the folders that he wants to share. Certain hubs require a specific amount of data to be shared by the user trying to connect to it, so if you share too few data, you may not be able to connect to that hub.

For making it easier to connect to hubs, you can add a hublist into the program. A hublist is a file which contains a large group of hubs and connecting to any of them can be done using a single click. After making all the necessary configurations and connecting to the hub, one can view the contents shared by any user by double clicking on his name. Alternatively, he can use the search feature for finding a desired file. For narrowing the search results, the user can select the type of content he would like to search, for example, music, videos, images and so on.

After finding a desired file, double clicking on it will immediately start the download process. While files are being downloaded, a progress bar will be displayed in the lower part of the interface, for each of them. DC++ allows downloading an unlimited number of files at the same time.

Besides downloading files, the user can also chat with the users connected to the hub. For viewing the efficiency of the network bandwidth, DC++ includes a statistics feature, which displays the current download and upload speed in real time, together with the total amount of generated traffic.
